SHARON ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS MINUTES OF MAY 11, 2011

The Town of Sharon Zoning Board held a regular meeting on Wednesday, May 11, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lower Level of the Town Office Building.  The following members were present:  Kevin McCarville, Acting Chairman; Lee Wernick, Seth Ruskin, Walter Newman and Walter Newman.

Mr. McCarville opened the meeting at 7:35 p.m.  He sent the board’s thoughts, prayers and good wishes to the Zoning Board Chairman John Lee who is serving in Afghanistan and wished him a safe return.

Summer Schedule:  The board discussed and approved the following summer schedule: June 8, July 13 and August 17.   It was agreed to inform Atty. Robert Shelmerdine of these dates for future scheduling of Sharon Commons/Residences.

7:38 p.m.         Jason Sonion, 18 Gorwin Drive, Case No. 1671:  Mr. McCarville read the public hearing notice.  He read a memo dated May 10, 2011 from Greg Meister, Conservation Agent and a memo dated May 10, 2011 from Jim Andrews, Health Agent, stating he doesn’t have enough information to make a recommendation at this time.

The applicant was present and stated he spoke with Jim Andrews earlier today and has given him all the required information.  Ms. Sonion stated she has had documents and plans since December, but Mr. Andrews never asked for any of them.  Mr. McCarville stated we cannot vote on this without written approval from Mr. Andrews.  He also pointed out that the application shows they are looking for a variance, but the public hearing notice states special permit.  Ms. Sonion stated they are seeking a special permit.

Mr. Sonion stated they are proposing to connect the existing garage, enclose the chimney and put on an addition.  They also know of where the septic system is.  They are doing this because they would like the kitchen farther away from the existing bedrooms.  Mr. McCarville stated that Jim Andrews stated the septic is shown as “approximate”.  Mr. Wernick stated he would like to see a plan showing each room and purpose.

Mr. Ruskin asked how many bedrooms they presently have.  Ms. Sonion stated they have three now and it will be the same after the addition.  She stated they would like to have more room in the kitchen because they keep kosher.

Mr. Sonion asked to continue this hearing in order to get the required information from Jim Andrews.  Mr. McCarville continued this hearing to May 18, 2011 at 7:30 p.m.

8:03 p.m.         New Cingular Wireless, 68 Mohawk, Case No. 1656 Continued Hearing:   Mr. McCarville read a letter dated May 11, 2011 from Ed Pare, Brown Rudnick on behalf of the applicant requesting an extension of time to July 13, 2011 as they are still in negotiations with the town.  Michael Davis was present to sign the extension request.  Mr. McCarville continued this hearing to July 13, 2011 at 7:30 p.m.
